Fernando Alonso is ready to return to Formula 1 just one year after finishing his F1 career to compete in other motorsport competitions. Alonso recently ended his partnership with McLaren in Indy 500 race and has since reached out to Red Bull in order to let them know that he is available to compete in F1 next season.

The news about Alonso’s wish to return to Formula 1 was confirmed by Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko in a recent Motorsport.com interview. However, Marko dismissed the team’s interest in two-times F1 champion due to his poor relationship with Red Bull’s motor engine manufactured Honda.

“Alonso’s representatives have let us know that he is available,” – said Marko. “But for Honda, Alonso is something impossible.”

Fernando Alonso was often critical about Honda’s engines and their lack of performance in the past. His frustration reached a boiling point in 2017 when he decided to quit his F1 team McLaren, whose cars were running on Honda engines, prior to Monaco Grand Prix and race in Indy 500.

With Red Bull passing on his offer, Alonso now reportedly eyes an opportunity to return to his old team Ferrari in case Sebastian Vettel decided to leave the team in the near future.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
