Banged up Atlanta Falcons are finally starting to get some of their stars back from injuries. According to Falcons’ coach Dan Quinn, linebacker Deion Jones is now healthy and will play in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. The 24-year-old Pro Bowler broke his foot in Week 1 and hadn’t played since.
“He had an excellent week and really looked like himself,” – Quinn told the reports. “I was optimistic the whole week to see where he would land, and he really nailed it all week long. He’s dying to get going, and we’re dying to have him back out.”
After breaking his foot in September, Deion Jones was placed on the injured reserve list as he recovered from surgery. He was reactivated and started practicing several weeks ago, but the Falcons decided to take a cautious approach with the player since they already lost their chances of making it to the postseason.
“Him coming back, that’s huge for your defense in general,” – said Jones’ fellow linebacker. “He’s the captain of the defense. He’s the Mike. He does some things really well that not a lot of people can do. Just having him back is going to be huge in general.”
After playing college football with LSU Tigers, Deion Jones was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He had an impressive rookie season, earning PFWA All-Rookie Team selection, and followed that up with a Pro Bowl appearance in 2017.
Jones’ NFL stats include 255 tackles, 22 pass deflections, seven interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.
