Free agent Radamel Falcao has joined La Liga side Rayo Vallecano on a free transfer. This comes after the Colombian national’s contract with the Turkish team Galatasaray was terminated.
Falcao first made headlines during his tenure at Porto, after which he represented La Liga giants Atletico Madrid and French Ligue 1 side Monaco. He also represented Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea on season-long loan spells.
Among the 35-year-old’s top achievements are winning the UEFA Europa League with both FC Porto and Atletico Madrid in 2010-11 and 2011-12, respectively, as well as the UEFA Super Cup in 2012. He has also won league titles in Portugal, France, and Argentina with River Plate back in 2008.
On an international level, Falcao has proven to be a key player for the Columbian national team. He represented the South American nation in three Copa America tournaments (2011, 2015, and 2019) as well as the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. With 35 goals in 91 appearances, Falcao is Columbia’s all-time top goalscorer.
