Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys saw his 6 games suspension upheld following the appeal, as reported by ESPN. Still, the Cowboys’ RB will be eligible to play in Week 1 game against New York Giants. Brian McCarthy of the NFL offered an explanation for why Elliott will be able to play in Week 1 on his Twitter profile.

The reports about Elliott’s suspension came in August when NFL determined that the player has violated the league’s personal conduct policy. He was handed suspension for the first six games of the season. Last year, NFL began an investigation after accusations of domestic violence made by Tiffany Thompson, Elliott’s supposed girlfriend. Thompson posted disturbing pictures on her Instagram account, which showed bruises on her body.

Ezekiel Elliott’s appeal hearing was held in New York last week, with 3 days of testimonies amounting to 25 hours. Alongside Elliott, multiple witnesses and experts were present at the hearing. Tiffany Thompson was not present. It is important to note that the NFL’s lead investigator, Kia Wright Roberts interviewed Thompson 6 times, and her final recommendation stated that Elliott should not be suspended.

Although Elliott’s appeal has been denied, his attorneys intend to take the case to the federal level. “Mr. Elliott is looking forward to having his day in federal court where the playing field will be level and the NFL will have to answer for its unfair and unjust practices” – said Elliott’s attorneys in an official statement.

Ezekiel Elliott was drafted by Dallas Cowboys as the 4th overall in the 2016 NFL Draft and named the team’s starting RB at the beginning of the regular season. Elliott finished his rookie season as the league’s top rusher with 1,631 yards. He also added 16 touchdowns combined and 363 receiving yards. His honors and achievements include FedEx Ground Player of the Year award and 4 times Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week.
