Former Los Angeles Galaxy’s star winger Douglas Costa has signed with Australia’s Sydney FC. According to the club’s announcement, Costa inked a two-year deal.

After leaving Galaxy at the end of the 2023 MLS season, Costa returned home to Brazil to play for Fluminense. However, his time with Série A’s side came to an end after just six months, with the two sides agreeing to a mutual contract termination.

With his stacked resume, Costa will immediately become the biggest name in Australia’s A-League. He is also arguably the most successful soccer star to play in the country since Alessandro Del Piero in the early 2010s.

“I have been part of some incredible teams throughout my career, winning many titles, and I have come to Sydney FC to win more,” Costa said in a statement. “Football is in my blood and I arrive in Australia to raise the game in this country, entertain the passionate sporting public and bring silverware to Sydney FC. “

Douglas Costa is best known for his time with Bayern Munich and Juventus. He won three Bundesliga titles while also adding three Seria A titles with Juve. After his time in Europe, Costa signed with Galaxy in 2022 and spent two years with the club, scoring eight goals in 51 matches. He also played with Shakhtar Donetsk and Gremio throughout his career.

I am a reality TV junkie. My dream since I was a kid was to be on Big Brother, but until then you can catch me binge-watching episodes each summer.
