France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot is coming home. Ligue 1 side Marseille announced on Sunday that the club reached an “agreement in principle” to sign Rabiot.
Rabiot, who spent the past five years with Seria A side Juventus, will officially join Marseille once he passes his medical. According to French media outlet L’Equipe, Rabiot has agreed to a two-year deal.
After his contract expired this summer, Rabiot became one of the most sought-after players on the free-agent market. But despite being pursued by the likes of Manchester United and being seemingly close to joining Juventus’ rival AC Milan, he ended up deciding to return to France and join Roberto De Zerbi’s exciting project at Velodrome.
After De Zerbi took over the club ahead of the 2024-25 season, Marseille made a number of high-profile additions. They signed forward Mason Greenwood from Manchester United while also bringing in Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and attacker Neal Maupay.
Adrien Rabiot started his career with Paris Saint-Germain, making his professional debut in 2012. He made 227 appearances with PSG, scoring 24 goals and adding 14 assists while helping the club win five Ligue 1 titles, among other trophies. He decided to refuse a contract extension with the French club in 2019 and signed with Juve on a free transfer.
