Anadolu Efes guard Vasilije Micic is reportedly eyeing a move to the NBA. Micic was named Most Valuable Player in EuroLeague, Europe’s strongest basketball competition, last year and has back-to-back EuroLeague Final Four MVP honors.

There was chatter about Micic coming to the United States in 2022, but he opted to ink a new deal with Efes. The 28-year-old Serbian is now revisiting NBA interest. However, according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews, he would prefer not to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder, who own his draft rights.

Micic was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. His draft rights were then traded to the Thunder in late 2020. Micic believes OKC wouldn’t be the right place for him since the team is rebuilding and has an abundance of guards on the roster.

Reportedly, Micic’s representatives have reached out to the Thunder in an attempt to find a solution. It is expected that OKC’s front office is exploring trade possibilities for his rights while ensuring he lands in a situation where he would have a chance to compete for a prominent role.

Micic averaged Euroleague-leading 18.2 points per game during the 2021-22 season. He also added 2.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists while helping Efes win its second consecutive trophy.
