Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has made Premier League history after scoring a hat trick in his team’s 3-1 away win at West Ham United. With seven goals in his opening three games, Haaland has scored the most goals in the first three games of a Premier League season in history.
This is Haaland’s second straight hat trick, with the Norwegian netting three goals during City’s 4-1 win over newly promoted side Ipswich Town last weekend. During the West Ham game, Haaland scored the opener in the 10th minute after receiving a through ball from Bernardo Silva. He doubled his tally in the 30th minute before sealing the win seven minutes from time.
“The first goal, Bernardo wins the ball, pass the ball and finish or the third goal, with the space behind, it’s unstoppable,” City manager Pep Guardiola stated after the match. “There is no central defender, not even with a gun — it’s impossible, so fast, so powerful,” Guardiola said of Haaland’s ability to get past defenders.
