Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has defended his performance in what has been a challenging season for his team. Ahead of his team’s FA Cup semifinal against Coventry City on Sunday afternoon, Ten Hag claimed that his team has been unable to reach its potential due to missing players and the inability to field the club’s strongest lineup.

“What concerns me is that in 18 months I have never had my favourite team on the pitch, that concerns me because players are injured,” the Dutch manager claimed. “One time, against City at home last season — that is the only time I had a full squad where I can pick my team. In all the other games always there was an injury aspect we have to deal with.”

United are expected to be without six first-team players for the Coventry game, however, Scott McTominay and Antony are set to return. Harry Maguire is also expected to return from injury. The FA Cup is United’s last chance to win silverware this season, with the team currently in seventh place in the Premier League.
