It seems like San Jose Earthquakes are ready to make a big splash this offseason. According to reports by several Mexican outlets, Quakes are pursuing Chivas Guadalajara star striker Alan Pulido.

Earthquakes are reportedly willing to offer $10 million for Pulido in hopes they will reunite him with manager Matias Almeyda. Pulido and Almeyda successfully collaborated in Guadalajara between 2016 and 2018.

Despite San Jose’s interest and generous offer, Chivas seems unwilling to part ways with Pulido, who scored 12 goals in 18 games he played in Liga MX this season.

“We’ve talked with our scoring champion, we are very happy with him, we have a contract and we want Pulido to stay,” said Guadalajara’s sporting director Ricardo Peláez, addressing the rumors surrounding Pulido’s status.

The one thing that might work in Earthquakes’ favor is the fact that Alan Pulido is approaching the final year of his contract with Chivas. If the player is unwilling to sign an extension, the club might be forced to listen to offers for him in order to avoid losing him for nothing.

Pulido joined Chivas in 2016 and has since made 116 appearances for the club, scoring 39 goals in the process. He previously also played for UANL, Levadiakos, and Olympiacos.
