With 2:00 minutes left on the clock in the NFC Divisional Round game, it seemed like the Philadelphia Eagles are poised to make another upset against the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles were six points behind, but they had the ball at Saints’ 27 yards and confidence that their quarterback Nick Foles will make another of his magical play. Foles was on the right track to do so, throwing a great ball to wide receiver Alshon Jeffrey, who just needed to was one of his more reliable receivers this year.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, Jeffrey managed to let the ball slip through his hands, with New Orleans’ cornerback Marshon Lattimore making a swift reaction and intercepting the pass which ultimately secured a win for his team.

Jeffrey knows that he was the one that failed to make the critical play and took the full blame after the game.

“That’s on me. I’ll take that loss. It’s on me,” – said the 28-year-old. “I let my teammates down, the city of Philadelphia, that’s on me. I’ll take that.”

Despite his mistake, Alshon Jeffrey’s teammates rushed in his defense and reminded him on the role he had in Eagles’ run to the Super Bowl trophy last year.

“He’s one of the best players on this football team. That game wasn’t decided by that play, number one,” – said Philadelphia’s tight end Zach Ertz. “Two, we wouldn’t change the playcall. And three, we’re not in this situation without him. That’s the bottom line. He is one of the best receivers in the league. There are not many guys who are able to make plays continually like he does. Does he catch that ball 99 times out of 100? Yeah. [Does he catch it] 999,999 out of a million? Yeah. It’s tough to end like that … but he should know that play didn’t decide this game.”

Alshon Jeffery finished the game against the Saints with five receptions for 63 yards. Jeffery caught 65 passes for 843 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season.
