Philadelphia Eagles’ running back Darren Sproles has set an expiring date on his NFL career. The 35-year-old Pro Bowler revealed that he intends to play “one more year” of professional football before calling it quits.

According to Sproles, who revealed his decision in a blog post, he initially intended for 2017 to be his last year in the league. He, however, suffered a broken arm and a torn ACL in Week 3 game against the New York Giants and had to sit out the rest of the season. Sproles then decided to rethink his decision, not wanting to “go out like that.” Eventually, he re-signed with the Eagles in April, inking a one-year deal.

I’m excited to come back and I am even more excited to come back to the defending Super Bowl champion, Eagles,” – Sproles wrote in his blog post. “We have something special here with the team, the fans, and the city. We made history bringing the first Lombardi trophy to Philly and now we want to go back-to-back.”

Before joining Philadelphia Eagles back in 2014, Darren Sproles also played for San Diego Chargers and New Orleans Saints. In 13 seasons he spent in NFL, Sproles was named Second-team All-Pro once and earned three Pro Bowl selections. He is currently sixth all-time on all-purpose yards list with 19,155 yards.
