Philadelphia Eagles are close to officially being out of wide receivers this year. The team announced on Thursday that they had placed starting wideout Alshon Jeffery on injured reserve, officially ending his season. On IR, Jeffery will join fellow starting wide receiver DeSean Jackson, who has been out since early November.

In a series of corresponding moves, Eagles have promoted WR Robert Davis from practice squad to active roster, while signing former New York Jets’ wideout Deontay Burnett to practice squad.

Davis previously played with Washington Redskins and has one career reception for 11 yards. Burnett, on the other hand, has 10 catches for 143 yards.

Alshon Jeffery has been struggling with injuries all regular season, previously missing time with calf and hip injuries. Jeffery got his latest injury in Monday night’s win over New York Giants. The team described it as a non-contact foot injury.

Jeffery will end the season with 43 catches for 490 yards and four touchdowns.

Besides Jeffery and Jackson, Philadelphia is also without Nelson Agholor, who is yet to return to practice due to knee issues. The Eagles’ only options at WR are now Davis, third-year player Greg Ward, and rookie J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. This means that the team will probably use its tight ends on the position as well.
