It’s been three years since legendary Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Donovan McNabb became NFL Hall of Fame eligible, but there is no indication that he could get in anytime soon. If you ask McNabb, however, he is a definitively worthy of this honor and has numbers to prove it.

“Absolutely,” – said McNabb in a recent interview when asked whether he thinks he belongs in the Hall of Fame. “I’m not hesitating on that. I am a Hall of Famer. My numbers speak for itself. … My numbers are better than Troy Aikman, but he has Super Bowl rings and he’s played with Hall of Famers as well.”

McNabb definitely has the edge over Aikman when it comes to numbers. He managed to throw for 37,276 yards and 234 touchdowns during his career, while Aikman retired with 32,942 passing yards and 165 touchdowns.

On the other hand, Aikman is a lot more accomplished than McNabb when it comes to achievements. While McNabb only has one Super Bowl appearance, Aikman has won three Super Bowls and was named Super Bowl MVP in one of them.

Donovan McNabb thinks that the lack of Super Bowl success works against him when Hall of Fame votes are cast.

“When they look at my numbers, yeah,” – McNabb added, “but then they always want to add other stuff into it. ‘Was he an All-Pro? Was he this? How many Super Bowl opportunities?’ But people don’t realize how hard it is to get to the NFC Championship. And to get there five times, then make it to a Super Bowl? It’s tough.”

McNabb played 13 years in NFL, 11 of which he spent with Philadelphia Eagles. He also had brief stints with Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings. His career highlights include six Pro Bowl appearances and one NFC Champion title.
