Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett could be on the move. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Barnett received permission from the Eagles to look for a trade that would land him with another team ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

Reportedly, Barnett isn’t expecting to get many snaps in a crowded Eagles’ pass rush unit, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has already been exploring interest for his client around the league. Philly would like to keep Barnett regardless but won’t stand in his way if they receive a satisfactory offer.

Barnett was limited to just one game in 2022 after tearing his ACL in the season opener against the Detroit Lions. He is now healthy and participated in the Eagles’ training camp without any restrictions. He should receive some interest from pass rush-needy teams, considering his solid performance prior to the injury.

The Eagles selected Derek Barnett in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He made the PFWA All-Rookie Team after contributing 5.0 sacks and 21 tackles in his rookie campaign and was part of the team that won Super Bowl LII.

Barnett played 65 games since entering the NFL, making 45 starts. He has 21.5 career sacks to go with 147 tackles, 76 QB hits, three forced fumbles, and one defensive touchdown.
