Huston Dynamo’s winger DaMarcus Beasley decided to retire from professional soccer at the end of 2019 MLS season. Beasley, who is currently in his 20th season as a pro, announced the decision via social media post.

“Before my 37th birthday, I’d just like to say that this year will be my last,” – Beasley wrote. “I appreciate all the love, cheers, and jeers throughout these past 20 years. Being on the pith has fulfilled every dream I could have ever imagined. Thank you and more words on another day!”

Beasley considered retirement after the 2018 season but decided to return on a one-year deal in 2019. He only appeared in one match this year, however, as he struggled with a knee injury.

DaMarcus Beasley started his career in MLS with LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire, before embarking on stints with several European clubs including PSV and Rangers. Beasley returned to the U.S. in 2014 when he signed a designated player contract with Houston Dynamo.

Besides being one of MLS’ greats, Beasley is also considered a USMNT legend. He made 126 appearances for the national team and managed to score 17 goals. He is also the only U.S. player to take part in four FIFA World Cup competitions.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
