The Houston Texans rookie linebacker Dylan Cole injured his left leg in Sunday’s win against Cleveland Browns and had to leave the game early. Cole made an interception on a pass and then tried to leap over wide receiver Rashard Higgins, before getting tackled.  Although the Texans didn’t reveal the details of the injury, according to Houston Chronicle, Cole suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain. This was revealed after Cole underwent a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Monday. Although the usual recovery period for this kind of injury is 4 weeks, sometimes it can take longer than that. Still, Cole is expected to play again this season.

It was a great play,” – Texans coach Bill O’Brien said. “He’s got good speed, he’s got really good instincts. He knew what was coming there basically, and he can run. He’s got good ball skills, so we weren’t surprised by the play that he made, but it was definitely a heck of a play down the field. Usually linebackers, the farther it gets down the field, they have a harder time adjusting to the ball, and he did a nice job on that. It’s just too bad he got injured on that play.”

Dylan Cole played college football for the Missouri State Bears before entering the 2017 NFL Draft. After going undrafted, he signed with the Houston Texans. Cole was featured in 6 games, starting one of them. He already made an impact and recorded 19 tackles and 1 sack. He also has 2 interceptions, one of them returned for a touchdown.

Cole’s injury added to the Houston Texans unfortunate season when it comes to the health of the team’s players. Previously, their star defensive end JJ Watt suffered an injury and will miss the rest of the season.
