The Anaheim Ducks are bracing for another extended period without their talented center, Trevor Zegras. The team announced that Zegras is dealing with a broken ankle and is expected to undergo surgery that will keep him off ice between six and eight weeks.

Zegras got hurt early in the first period of a 5-3 win against the Nashville Predators. Ducks’ rookie defenseman Pavel Mintyukov suffered a separated shoulder in the same game and will also miss significant time.

Zegras had a breakthrough season in 2022-23, scoring 23 goals and adding 42 assists for career-high 65 points. He was also featured on the cover of the popular hockey video game NHL 23 alongside PWHL star Sarah Nurse.

However, the new campaign has been challenging for Zegras so far. After playing in the first 12 games in 2023-24, the 22-year-old player suffered a lower-body injury in early November that kept him out for more than a month. He was just starting to find his groove back, scoring two goals against the Detroit Red Wings, before getting hurt again.

Zegras played a total of 20 games this season, contributing with seven points. The Ducks are currently at No. 7 in the Pacific division with a 14-26-1 record.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
