Veteran defensive tackle Damon Harrison finally managed to get the extension he wanted from Detroit Lions for the entire offseason. Lions announced on Thursday that they have signed Harrison to a one-year extension which will keep him with the organization through 2021.

Although the team didn’t release the financial terms of the deal, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Harrison’s extension is worth $11 million. He will also now receive $12 million in guaranteed salary over the next two years.

Earlier in the year, Harrison decided to sit out the team’s offseason activities including mandatory minicamp, in order to get a new contract or get the old one revised. However, he still decided to join the team’s training camp without a new deal in place, which eventually paid off.

Damon Harrison played 10 games with Lions last year and contributed with 50 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one pass defended and one forced fumble. He started the season with New York Giants, where he played seven games and had 31 tackles and one forced fumble.

Harrison, who also played with New York Jets early in his career, has 436 career tackles alongside 9.0 sacks, four forced fumbles and one interception. His professional career highlights include First-Team All-Pro selection in 2016.
