The Miami Dolphins found out on Monday that their standout rookie running back, De’Von Achane, is going to miss multiple weeks while dealing with a knee injury. The team is reportedly yet to make a decision on whether to place Achane on Injured Reserve.

Achane got hurt early in the fourth quarter of the Dolphins’ 31-16 win over the New York Giants on Sunday. The injury was most likely the result of Giants’ lineman Leonard Williams landing on his leg during a tackle.

Dolphins’ head coach, Mike McDaniel, confirmed that Achane is dealing with an injury but declined to offer any specifics.

“When I don’t know, I literally don’t spend any time forecasting either way,” McDaniel said. “It’s just because we’re getting more information. But I find it trivial to even forecast until I get all the information. So I really don’t know.”

De’Von Achane has been a revelation for the Dolphins since being drafted out of Texas A&M in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Achane is currently second in rushing yards with 460 and already has five touchdowns on the ground.

The Dolphins are well equipped to weather Achane’s absence, considering the form of their other running back, Raheem Mostert. Throughout the first five weeks, Mostert rushed for 317 yards and led the league with seven rushing TDs.
