The Los Angeles Dodgers’ two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani isn’t done rewriting MLB history books even after recently becoming the first player ever to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season.

During Friday’s 6-4 win over the Colorado Rockies, Ohtani had one home run and one stolen base. This upped his 2024 tally to 52 homers and 52 stolen bases while setting another MLB record.

It was Ohtani’s 14 straight games with at least one homer and one stolen base, making it the longest streak in league history. He was previously tied with New York Yankees’ Rickey Henderson, who had 13 such games in a row during the 1986 campaign.

“He’s lights-out, clearly. I think he’s ramped up his focus. I really do,“ said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Expect that Ohtani continues to pile up home runs and stolen bases in the Dodgers’ remaining eight games. The LA team already secured a playoff spot, meaning Ohtani will play in the postseason for the first time in his career, but he still chases the top seed in NL and has to keep winning to preserve its division lead.

At 92-62, the Dodgers are tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for the best record in the NL and the whole MLB. In the NL West, they have a four-game lead over the San Diego Padres.
