The Los Angeles Dodgers want to see their veteran ace Clayton Kershaw involved in some more action before reintroducing him to their rotation. After an impressive outing for Triple-A Oklahoma City, Kershaw told reporters that he will have another rehab start ahead of his return to MLB.

Kershaw threw 38 pitches for Oklahoma City this past weekend while allowing no hits and striking out five in three innings.

“I thought it actually went pretty well tonight. I thought it went better than the last one, so that was encouraging for sure,” Kershaw said after the game. “I got through three innings, which was kind of the goal for tonight. I definitely have one more and will go from there. But overall, I would say it’s pretty positive tonight.”

After an injury-plagued 2023 season, Kershaw opted to undergo a shoulder injury in the offseason. At the time, he told reporters that he was likely to miss the first half of the 2024 campaign. However, that didn’t prevent the Dodgers from re-signing him on a one-year, $10 million contract.

Kershaw appeared to be ahead of schedule earlier in the season before being shut down due to shoulder soreness. However, the issue seems to be behind Kershaw now, and he is not far from providing a badly needed boost for the Dodgers’ rotation.
