Dallas Stars general manager Jim Nill announced on Tuesday that his team has completed the signing of restricted free agent Denis Gurianov. The forward, who celebrated his 25th birthday on the same day as the announcement, has agreed to a $2.9 million contract with the Stars that will last for the 2022-23 season.

Hailing from Togliatti, Russia, Gurianov joined the Stars in 2015 when they selected him as their first-round pick and the 12th selection overall in the 2015 NHL Draft. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 195 pounds, Gurianov hit his peak in the 2021-22 season, scoring career highs of 31 points and 20 assists in 73 games.

The 25-year-old player’s 31 points saw him ranked sixth among the Stars’ forwards, while his 11 goals put him in seventh place on the scorers’ chart. Gurianov’s standout moment in a Dallas jersey last season came during Game 7 of his team’s first-round playoff series against the Calgary Flames when he scored four goals and bagged an assist.

Gurianov’s regular-season record throughout his career is 44 goals and 50 assists across 214 games. In 32 career postseason games, the Russian national has racked up nine goals and eight assists.
