Hall of Famer and Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deoin Sanders won’t just sit and watch the wrong NFL team draft his son and quarterback, Shedeur Sanders. According to Sanders, he has every intention to “step in” and ensure Shedeur ends up in a great situation.
Shedeur is the starter for the Buffaloes and is projected to be the first quarterback taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. He is playing great football this season, completing 72.9% of his passes while throwing for 2,882 yards and 24 touchdowns in nine games.
During a recent appearance on FS1’s show Speak, Sanders was asked whether he would “step in” and prevent Shreduer from going to a “wrong organization.”
“Yeah, but I’m not gonna do it publicly. I’d do it privately,” Sanders said while adding that he intends to do the same for Buffaloes’ wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
When discussing the “right” organization, Sanders said that he wants Shedeur to end up with a team that has a good track of developing quarterbacks.
“Somebody that can handle the quarterback that he is. Somebody that can handle understanding what he’s capable of,” he added.
Sanders wouldn’t be the first father to step in and dictate where his son lands in the NFL. Back in 2004, the San Diego Chargers selected Eli Manning with the first overall pick. However, Eli’s father, Archie Manning, made it clear to the Chargers that his son doesn’t intend to play for the organization. The Chargers eventually caved, trading Eli to the New York Giants.
