The fact that he is ranked third or fourth best cornerback available in the 2019 NFL Draft doesn’t trouble Georgia Bulldogs’ DeAndre Baker at all. As a matter of fact, he is so confident in his skills that he doesn’t have trouble claiming he is the best cornerback in the upcoming draft.

“I know I’m the best cornerback in the draft,” – said Baker via the Associated Press. “I don’t just believe it, I know I’m the best… My film speaks for itself. My stats, everything. My production, week in and week out. You go back to 2017 or the first day I started I was the best cornerback in the nation.”

Baker is coming off a breakthrough season in which he won Jim Thorpe Award for the best defensive back in college football while being named Consensus All-American and receiving First-Team All-SEC honors. The 21-year-old  finished 2018 with 40 tackles, two interceptions, nine passes defended and one forced fumble.

DeAndre Baker is currently projected to go in the late first or early second round. His top competitors for the first CB off the board are LSU’s Greedy Williams and Washington’s Byron Murphy.
