In 2020, Major League Soccer will be expanding to Miami thanks to David Beckham. This will be the final step of Beckham’s campaign to get an MLS club into this city, which started four years ago. With the expansion finally confirmed, the former LA Galaxy star decided to reveal the name and the logo of his team on Wednesday.

David Beckham’s MLS club will be called Club Internacional de Futbol Miami, or simply Inter Miami CF. You can check out the logo below.

This is such a proud day for myself and for the entire team,” – said Beckham at the unveiling. “It’s an honour to announce the new name and crest to our fans — we are taking another important step in establishing our club and today marks an important moment in the history of Club Internacional de Futbol Miami.

We are extremely excited to offer the team’s identity to Miami and the world,” – added chairman Marcelo Claure. “This team will thrive on the principles of solidarity, passion, innovation, tenacity and inclusivity and embodies all of them in every aspect of our daily work — on and off the field.”

While joining the Los Angeles Galaxy back in 2007, David Beckham added an option to his contract with MLS that allowed him to own an expansion team at a discounted franchise fee of $25 million. After concluding his professional soccer career in 2013, Beckham formed an ownership group and set the plans to bring MLS team to Miami in motion.

Although there are plans to include Inter Miami in MLS calendar for 2020, the club still doesn’t have a stadium. Several projects were rejected in a previous couple of years, but there is a new proposal currently in discussion which will subject of a public referendum scheduled for November 2018.
