The Chicago Cubs edged out rivals Milwaukee Brewers 11-8 to win the National League Central Wednesday night in spite of a finale loss.

As it turns out, the 2016 World Series Champions may not have won the war yet. The Brewers displayed a solid game, forcing Coach Joe Maddon to make three changes. They also won the finale 5-1 but lost the series .571 to the Cubs’ .579.

Speaking at the post-game press conference, Coach Craig Counsell said his team’s goal on the finale was to put pressure on the Cubs.

“That was the goal coming into this series,” Craig said. “We’ve put ourselves in a position where the division is in reach. You feel like now, really, you take care of your own stuff. You play well and you feel like you’ve got a chance to be there.”

Holding-off the Cubs’ at the Playoffs is something Coach Counsell looks forward to especially after the team’s recent performance. The Brewers are on a seven-game winning streak and have won 11 of the last 14 games.

Led by Lorenzo Cain, who now has 8 singles in 14 at-bats, Josh Hader and Curtis Granderson, the Brewers are a force to reckon with. The Cubs are no mean fit by any means. They won the series after all and have an array of fit players to rely on.
