Cristiano Ronaldo believes Kylian Mbappe can follow in his footsteps and win the Ballon d’Or while playing for La Liga giants Real Madrid.
In a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, which featured a sit-down with former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo discussed how Mbappe might perform at Real after joining the Los Blancos as a free agent in the summer.
According to Ronaldo, Mbappe will “do well” with Real due to the structure of the club, and predicted that the Frenchman will win the Ballon d’Or, a prestigious award given to the best soccer player in the world on an annual basis.
“They have a great coach and the president, Florentino [Perez], who has been there many many years. I think it won’t be a big problem because of his talent. Mbappe can be the next golden ball [Ballon d’Or] winner,” Ronaldo shared.
However, Ronaldo believes the jury is still on whether Real will be better compared to 2023-24, in which they won La Liga and UEFA Champions League.
“Now, if you say that Madrid is going to be better or not, we don’t know,” he added. “Mbappe is there now, I think Madrid will keep strong, but I don’t know if they will be better than last year. Only God knows.”
Mbappe, who considers Cristiano Ronaldo as his biggest soccer idol, had a slow start to his spell with Real. He went scoreless in his first three games in La Liga before scoring twice in a recent 2:0 win over Betis.
Real Madrid needs Mbappe to step up, considering that they are already one step behind La Liga. They have eight points from four matches and sit second behind rivals FC Barcelona, which are at the top of the standings with a maximum of 12 points.
