The Dallas Cowboys made a move to bolster their offensive line on Wednesday, adding former Chief Cameron Erving to their team on a one-year contract.

Erving, who primarily plays as a left tackle, is not expected to start for Dallas, but will rather provide depth behind Tyron Smith and Mitch Hyatt at the position.

The Cowboys dealt with huge injury problems on its offensive line last season, a situation that created difficulty for quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott to get the offense going without decent protection.

Erving, a 2015 NFL Draft first round pick by the Cleveland Browns, has had an up-and-down pro career but should at least add some talent and experience to the Dallas unit.

The Florida native struggled with injuries and inconsistent performance during his two years with the Browns, which led to him being traded to Kansas City prior to the 2017 season.

As a Chief, Erving started 25 games over 3 seasons, fluctuating between a back-up role and a starting job. Despite starting eight games and winning the Super Bowl with Kansas City last season, the team declined their 2020 option on his contract.

Now, Erving will look for a fresh start in Dallas with a team that desperately needed more talent at his position.
