Dallas Cowboys confirmed on Thursday that their All-Pro corner Trevon Diggs suffered a season-ending knee injury.

According to Cowboy’s official statement, Diggs tore his ACL during practice.

“Cornerback Trevon Diggs suffered a left knee injury during today’s practice. A subsequent MRI was performed that confirmed a torn ACL, “said the Cowboys. “A timetable for Diggs’ return to play has not been established, but he is currently projected to miss the remainder of the current season.”

Diggs also confirmed the news on his social media, thanking everyone for their prayers and promising he “will be back and better.”

Diggs established himself as one of the best corners in the league since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. He made the Pro Bowl in each of the past two seasons and received a First-Team All-Pro nod in 2021 when he led the league in interceptions.

The 25-year-old Alabama product also had a strong start to the 2023 campaign, recording four tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and three passes defended in the first two games.

Losing Diggs is a tough blow for the Cowboys, who had the best passing defense throughout the Week 2 of the new season. Last year’s fifth-round pick, DaRon Bland, is expected to take Diggs’ place in the starting lineup opposite veteran Stephon Gilmore.
