It’s been a while since we have seen Conor McGregor in a UFC cage, but that could soon change. According to his coach, John Kavanagh, there have been “ongoing” negotiations between McGregor’s camp and UFC to set up a fight between the 29-year-old and undefeated champion Khabib Nurmagomedov for a lightweight title fight. This would be the first UFC fight for Conor McGregor since November 2016.

I really have seen the spark back lately,” – Kavanagh told ESPN. “I think that was directed at other areas of his life for a while, building up his business world — which is completely justified. We all know the hard luck stories of fighters retiring broke. They get pats on the back and they’re forgotten.

I supported [McGregor focusing on other business] and I’m fully behind it, but I do see the spark back. I do see him very hungry, coming down to regular jiu-jitsu class and throwing a gi on. Strength and conditioning. There’s a real fire back.” – he added.

After defeating Eddie Alvarez for UFC Lightweight Championship and becoming a two-division champion in November 2016, Conor McGregor decided to take a break from UFC and focus on other endeavors. He made a turn to boxing in August 2017, when he had a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. McGregor ended up losing the match in the 10th round after a technical knock-out. He was also scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson in UFC at the end of 2017, but the fight was canceled.

In 2018, McGregor was stripped of the Lightweight Championship due to his inactivity in UFC.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
