Indianapolis Colts addressed several pressing needs in the 2019 NFL Draft but ended up passing on the opportunity to add a running back. Still, they decided to address their RB depth in the free agency and signed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Spencer Ware on Tuesday.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Ware inked a one year deal worth $1.305 million. The overall value of the contract might go up to $2.05 million based on incentives.

In corresponding moves, the Colts decided to waive safety Isaiah Johnson and defensive tackle DeShawn Williams while also releasing wide receiver James Wright.

Spencer Ware started his career as the sixth round pick in the 2013 by Seattle Seahawks before signing with the Chiefs in 2015. After a solid first year in Kansas City, Ware had a breakthrough season in 2016 when he stepped in for injured Jamaal Charles and rushed for 921 yards and three touchdowns in 14 games. He also managed to catch 33 passes for 447 yards and two touchdowns.

Ware was in line to be Chiefs’ starting RB in 2017, but ended up suffering a knee injury in the preseason which sidelined him for the whole year. He came back in 2018, but failed to replicate his earlier success and only rushed for 246 yards and two touchdowns.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
