The Indianapolis Colts have finally made peace with running back Jonathan Taylor’s wish to leave the franchise. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Colts have given Taylor permission to seek trade over the weekend.

Reportedly, interested teams are now considering whether to make an offer for Taylor and what would be “fair value”.

Taylor and the Colts have been on bad terms ever since the team decided not to give the Pro Bowler an extension this offseason. The 24-year-old asked to be traded back in July as a result, but owner Jim Irsay was adamant that won’t happen.

“We’re not trading Jonathan… end of the discussion,” Irsay said at the time. “Not now and not in October!”

The Colts drafted Jonathan Taylor in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and the Wisconsin product immediately established himself as the team’s most dangerous offensive weapon. He rushed for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns in his rookie year before making an even bigger impact the next season.

Taylor let the league in carries (332), rushing yards (1,811), and rushing touchdowns (18) as a sophomore while earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl nods.

However, Taylor failed to have the same success last season as he struggled with injuries. He only played 11 games while having 861 rushing yards and four TDs. This, alongside Taylor’s high demands, was probably the reason why the Colts opted against signing him to an extension.
