The new-look Los Angeles Clippers have already been plenty ambitious in 2019 after signing prize free agent Kawhi Leonard and acquiring superstar forward Paul George in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Now, after announcing plans for a new privately-funded arena, they’re looking to truly complete a makeover for the long-maligned franchise.

The Clippers have shared an arena with the rival Los Angeles Lakers since the 1999 opening of the Staples Center. However, after moving to Los Angeles from San Diego in 1984, the Clippers played by themselves at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.

The franchise now appears to have plans for a new arena to call their own home. According to plans released by the Clippers, they plan to build their new arena in Inglewood, California, located just south of the city limits of LA. The Los Angeles Rams and Chargers’ new shared football stadium, which is currently under construction, is also located in Inglewood.

The Clippers say that their planned new arena will be state of the art and include all kinds of environmentally-friendly touches and cutting-edge technology. They plan for the arena to incorporate the natural light that sunny Los Angeles provides and to also offer entertainment options to their fans.

A possible opening date still hasn’t been announced, but this is worth keeping an eye on.
