The Cleveland Cavaliers spent the summer working on upgrading their brand and giving a new look to their visual identity. That update has now become a part of the team’s uniforms for the 2022-23 NBA season, which the organization unveiled on Monday.
The reworked uniforms were designed by creative director and artist Daniel Arsham. The collection consists of a white “Association” jersey, a black “Statement” jersey, and a wine & gold “Icon” jersey. All three uniforms will be worn next season on a rotational basis, according to the team.
Each jersey design has a little bit of something that sets him apart from the rest. For example, the “Association” jersey has the “V net” logo in the “CAVS” lettering while “Icon” features “CLEVELAND” in the center. The “Statement” jersey, which carries the Jordan Brand logo, has the Cavs’ “C” emblem and “V net” logo on the shorts.
“We wanted to put our players in a uniform that would make them feel strong, confident, and proud to represent this new chapter of Cavaliers basketball,” said Arsham in a statement. “It’s a very clean, reductive, modern design that pays homage to all of the players and fans that have been a part of our team’s remarkable journey in becoming who we are today.”
The new design will also come with a new jersey sponsor for the Cavaliers. Moving forward, the team will carry a patch for mining company Cleveland-Cliffs its uniform. The two sides came to a multi-year marketing agreement back in March.
