After the Cleveland Browns ended the 2016 NFL season with a 1-15 record, their head coach Hue Jackson made an interesting promise. He said if the Browns the 2017 season with the same record, he’ll go swimming in Lake Erie. After a year, he didn’t forget on his word. “So how many people are jumping in the lake with me?” – Jackson opened his press conference on Wednesday.

I don’t like it, don’t like to do it for the reason why I’m having to do it, but I have to make do on my word “- he added. “I just think that’s what you do. I do get that. I made a statement, I gotta back it up. That’s the type of person I am, so that’s what we have to do.

Jackson also said he will make it an event which would benefit his Hue Jackson Foundation, founded in order to help fighting against the human trafficking in Cleveland.

Cleveland Browns hired Jackson in 2016 after he held the offensive coordinator position with the Cincinnati Bengals. He started the season 0-14, becoming the first NFL coach with such a poor start since Detroit Lions former coach Rod Marinelli in 2008. Despite having 1-30 record as a Browns, head coach, Jackson will most likely remain at the position in the next season. He has already got the confirmation from Browns owner Jimmy Haslam, who believes general manager John Dorsey.

John Dorsey joined the organization in December after Sashi Brown was relieved of his duties. Dorsey, who previously served at the same position with Kansas City Chiefs, will have a task of making struggling Browns into a respectable NFL team once again. In the 2018 NFL draft, the Browns will have two first-round picks and one second rounder.
