Cleveland Browns announced on Monday that they had fired head coach Hue Jackson and offensive coordinator Todd Haley. The move comes after 18-33 loss to Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, which put Browns on a three-game losing streak and a 2-5-1 record.

Browns also announced that defensive coordinator Gregg Williams would serve as interim head coach while running backs coach Freddie Kitchens will take over as offensive coordinator.

We greatly appreciate Hue’s commitment to the Cleveland Browns organization over the last two and a half years,” – said Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam in a statement. “We understand how critical this time period is in the development of our football team, individually and collectively, and believed it was in the organization’s best interest to make the move at this time, in order to maximize our opportunities the rest of this season. We certainly only wish Hue, Michelle, and his family the best moving forward.

There were several reasons for why Cleveland Browns decided to fire Hue Jackson. The most obvious one is the fact that Jackson had 3-36-1 record during his time with the organization, and that he never managed to win a road game. The second one was that the relationship between him and Todd Haley was so bad that the two couldn’t co-exist anymore. Also, Browns reportedly thought that the best way to develop their rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield was through personnel changes.

According to sources around the league, the Browns are looking at several names that could take over the head coaching position, including University of Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley. Most football analysts also think that Riley is the best solution, considering his familiarity with Mayfield, whom he had coached in college.
