Christian Pulisic helped USMNT to remain unbeaten at the start of World Cup qualifiers, but that came at a price. According to Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, the 22-year-old forward returned to the club “on crutches” and will be forced to miss several upcoming games as a result.

Pulisic got hurt during USMNT’s 4-1 dismantling of Honduras on Wednesday. He exited the game early in the second half and was visibly limping while heading to the sidelines.

Tuchel revealed during Friday’s press conference that Pulisic is dealing with an ankle injury and will be out for “about 10 days.”

The timeline means Pulisic should miss the Premier League clash against Aston Villa on Saturday, the UEFA Champions League group match against Zenit, and the London derby against Tottenham next week. His first game back could be the EFL Cup game against Aston Villa on September 22nd.

The injuries have been a recurring story for Christian Pulisic since he arrived at Chelsea in 2019. Various issues with hamstring and ankles kept Pulisic from making an impact in England and showcasing the talent that prompted the club to pay an $80 million transfer fee for his services.

Pulisic played a total of 79 games for Chelsea and scored 18 goals with 14 assists. He has one goal in two matches in 2021-22 so far.
