Christian Pulisic Left Out of USMNT Team to Play Brazil and Mexico

Borussia Dortmund’s Christian Pulisic was left out of the US men’s team to face Brazil and Mexico starting this week as Coach David Sarachan announced his roaster. The attacking midfielder is expected to miss matches for both club and national team after a leg injury last week.

Tim Weah, another teenage sensation for the USMNT, will be part of the 24-man squad that comprises of mostly inexperienced players. According to Coach Sarachan, the upcoming friendless are meant to help build his team’s experience in preparation for future tournaments like the Olympic and World Cup qualifiers.

Apart from Pulisic, renowned veterans Tim Howard, Geoff Cameron and Michael Bradley will also not be part of the team. Instead, uprising players like Columbus crew’s Gyasi Zardes and LA Galaxy’s Sebastian Lletget will lead the team.

“For these matches against Brazil and Mexico, the theme remains the same in that we are using the opportunity to continue building on the foundation that we’ve laid,” Sarachan, who’s won 5 out of 6 games as the team’s head coach, said. “We felt it was right to continue allowing this group to get valuable experience for the big picture that includes competitive matches in the future with the Gold Cup, Olympic qualifying and World Cup qualifying.”

Brazil to Field their Best

While the US’s roster consists of new players, Brazil’s first team will consist of award winners. PSG forward Neymar, Real Madrid’s Casemiro and Coutinho, Liver Pool’s Robert Firmino and goalkeeper Allison will be part of the team.

After playing Mexico, the men’s team is expected to play England and Colombia at later dates. Throughout the games, Coach Sarachan plans to field upcoming stars in the hope of fielding a strong team in 2020 for the Tokyo summer games.
