Kansas City Chiefs’ right tackle Mitchell Schwartz is getting rewarded for his impressive showing in the past couple of seasons. Chiefs announced on Wednesday that Schwartz, who earned First-Team All-Pro honors in 2018, received a one-year extension.

NFL Network reports that Schwartz’s extension is worth $11.255 million, which makes him the second-highest-paid right tackle in the league. The 30-year-old has two years left on his old deal which pays him $6 million in both 2019 and 2020.

“It’s been a pretty awesome three years,” – said Schwartz after inking the deal. “I came here to win games and do well. We’ve done that, and want to take the next step obviously in these next few years.”

Mitchell Schwartz spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns, who took him in the second round of 2012 NFL Draft. Although the Browns wanted to keep Schwartz for years to come, Chiefs swooped in with a five-year, $33 million contract offer which lured him into Kansas City.

This turned out to be a great move, as Schwartz is considered one of the best right tackles in the league and one of the best blockers in football overall. He is also a synonym for reliability, as he hasn’t missed a single game since entering the NFL. As a matter of fact, he is yet to miss a snap and has played more than 7,000 consecutive snaps as of November 2018.
