The Kansas City Chiefs might have won in their Thursday Night Football showdown against the Denver Broncos, but all of the focus after the game was on star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes left the game in the first half after suffering an ugly knee injury on a quarterback sneak play. He got the first down in the Denver red zone to give the Chiefs a shot at a touchdown, but was forced to leave the game after dislocating his right knee at the bottom of the pile.

The star third-year quarterback and reigning MVP saw his knee popped back into place by the Chiefs’ medical team and was able to walk off the field and into the locker room under his own power.

Mahomes showed optimism after the game that his injury was nothing serious. The team’s medical staff, however, is expected to perform more tests to see if he suffered any ligament damage in his knee on the play.

Backup quarterback Matt Moore replaced the young star after his Thursday night injury and performed well. The former Dolphins and Panthers QB completed 10 of 19 passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

The Chiefs will now wait to see when Mahomes will make his return to the field.
