Kansas City Chiefs’ outside linebacker Dee Ford will look back on his 2018 season with mixed feeling. Although he played the best football in his career and earned a Pro Bowl appearance in the process, Ford made a crucial mistake in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots and was one of the reasons why his team missed on a Super Bowl appearance. But it looks like the 27-year-old, who is set to become a free agent in the offseason, wants a chance to redeem himself.

Despite the fact that he will most likely be one of the most sought-after players in the free agency, Dee Ford recently said that he wants to stay in Kansas City for the years to come.

“I would love to come back here,” – said Ford. “I would love to be here, but that’s out of my control.”

There is no doubt that it will take lots of money for the Chiefs to keep Ford away from joining another team and stay long term. The organization also might consider placing a franchise tag on him and postponing this tough decision for 2020. The issue here is that Kansas City also needs to worry about deals wide receiver Tyreek Hill and defensive end Chris Jones will soon demand.

After struggling with consistency in the previous season, Dee Ford exploded in 2018 and was a disruptive force on the field, contributing 55 tackles and 13.0 sacks in the regular season. He also had four tackles, 1.0 sacks and one forced fumble in the postseason.
