The Kansas City Chiefs hired Matt Nagy to be Andy Reid’s new senior assistant and quarterbacks coach. Nagy was jobless after being fired as the head coach of the Chicago Bears back in January.

This will be the second stint with the Chiefs for Nagy, who previously spent five years with the organization between 2013 through 2017. He was the QB coach for three seasons and offensive coordinator in his last two years before leaving to coach the Bears.

Nagy arrives in Kansas City as a replacement for Mike Kafka, who joined the New York Giants earlier this offseason to be Brian Daboll’s OC. His hiring shouldn’t come as a surprise, given his familiarity with the organization and the system Ried prefers.

Matt Nagy probably rejoins the Chiefs with a goal of rebuilding his damaged reputation. He was fired by the Bears after a disastrous 2020 season that saw the team struggle offensively and finished with a 6-11 record. Overall, Nagy went 34-31 in Chicago during the regular seasons and 0-2 in the playoffs.

Besides recruiting Nagy, the Chiefs have also managed to secure the stay of their offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. It was previously believed that Bieniemy could decide to take a break in 2022 or pursue a head coaching job at college after not being able to land one in the NFL. However, according to new reports, he and the Chiefs managed to hammer out a new deal, and Bieniemy will return at least for the 2022 NFL season.

Gunner's favorite movies are Pulp Fiction, Iron Man (just the first one), and every James Bond film ever made. He's learning TV and cinema and hoping to always enjoy movies as he does now.
