In what has been a disappointing season at times for Chelsea, the club was dealt yet another blow on Monday night when young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi suffered a serious injury.

The 18-year-old was forced to exit Chelsea’s game against Burnley after suffering a right leg injury in the 41st minute of the match. Chelsea ended up drawing 2-2 at home against the Premier League’s 15th-ranked side.

Hudson-Odoi, it was later announced by the team after the winger underwent tests, had suffered a right Achilles tendon tear and will have to undergo surgery in order to fix the damage.

The blow is tough for Chelsea, as the Blues are currently fighting to obtain the Premier League’s 4th and final Champions League berth for next season. They are also about to participate in the semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Hudson-Odoi has played in 24 games this season for Chelsea, recording 4 goals and 1 assist.

He made his debut with the English national team in March and is considered one of the top young talents in the country.

He will hope to be ready and recovered as soon as possible for next season.
