Chelsea have completed the signing of Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a deal reportedly worth around £51.3 million ($65.5 million). The Portuguese winger signed a seven-year contract with Chelsea.
“I feel really grateful to have joined this club,” Neto stated in an announcement to fans and the press. “I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this shirt.” Neto was unveiled during the half-time break of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Inter Milan in a preseason friendly at Stamford Bridge.
Neto is the latest in an extensive list of signings by Chelsea this transfer window. The Premier League club has splurged over £200 million this summer, bringing in the likes of Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa, Marc Guiu from Barcelona, Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors, Caleb Wiley from Atlanta United, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City.
Following a tumultuous era for the club, Chelsea are looking to revive themselves this coming season under new head coach Enzo Maresca. Coming 12th in the Premier League in the 2022-23 season, the club managed to clinch sixth place last season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League. The club last qualified for the UEFA Champions League in the 2021-22 season.
