One of Europe’s biggest soccer clubs has found itself in hot water after having being found to have violated FIFA rules on signing youth players.

Chelsea FC has been banned by FIFA from signing players during the next two transfer windows, in Summer 2019 and in Winter 2019/2020, after the organization found that the club violated FIFA rules 29 times in the signings of players under 18 years old.

One of the high-profile signings that has been identified as part of FIFA’s investigation and findings was that of Bertrand Traore, who was signed by the club under shady circumstances back in 2013.

Chelsea has stated that they do not agree with FIFA’s findings and that they will appeal their punishment.

Meanwhile, FIFA has given the club 90 days to rectify the situation considering the players that were signed in violation of the organization’s rules.

This transfer ban means that Chelsea will be unable to sign new players until summer of 2020. This news puts Chelsea in a somewhat desperate situation, as the team was looking to make several new signings in the hopes of improving a team that currently sits in 6th place in England’s Premier League.
