Highly-rated Chelsea coach Anthony Barry is set to join former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich, sources revealed on Thursday. Chelsea is expected to receive compensation of £1 million following the coach’s departure.

Barry was part of Tuchel’s backroom staff before Tuchel was fired from his role as Chelsea manager in September last year. Since Tuchel was recruited as Bayern’s manager a month ago, the two clubs have been in talks over Barry’s potential move to the reigning Bundesliga champions.

Tuchel has been vocal about his desire to be reunited with Barry. “My coaching staff wasn’t prepared either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility,” Tuchel said.

“Arno Michels and Zsolt Low, who have been working with me for over 10 years, will be there. We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea,” Tuchel revealed before the deal was complete.

Barry at Stamford Bridge in 2020 as a hire of then-Chelsea manager Frank Lampard. He went on to work for both Tuchel and Graham Potter before assisting Belgium at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
