United States men’s national team defender Tim Ream could soon be coming home. According to The Athletic, MLS side Charlotte FC is currently engaged in talks over a transfer for Ream with Fulham.

Ream is under contract with the Premier League club until the summer of 2025, meaning that Charlotte would need to pay a transfer fee to acquire him. However, there is optimism on both sides that a deal could be completed.

While Ream has somewhat of a legendary status with Fulham, spending almost a decade with the club, the West London outfit is believe to be looking to revamp its back line. On the other hand, he is considered to be a great fit for Charlotte, who has been on the market for a reliable center-back that has the ability to play on the left side of the pitch.

Tim Ream originally started his career with Premier Development League side Chicago Fire Premier and secured a move to the New York Red Bulls in 2010. It didn’t take long for European clubs to notice him, and he made a switch to Bolton Wanderers in 2012, where he spent three-and-a-half seasons before going to Fulham.

With Fulham, Ream played 312 games in all competitions while helping the club secure three promotions to the Premier League and win the EFL Championship in 2021-22.

Since 2010, Ream has also been an important member of USMNT. He made 56 international appearances and was part of the country’s 2022 FIFA World Cup roster.
