Los Angeles Chargers might get some badly needed help once they come off a Week 12 bye. Chargers’ Pro Bowl safety Derwin James recently made an appearance on NFL Total Access and hinted that he might return to action soon.

James missed the entire 2019 NFL season after undergoing right foot surgery in August. The initial prognosis was that he will be out for three months, so him playing in Week 13 would fit the timeline.

“I’m feeling well, feeling better, getting better every day,” – said James. “Just taking it day-by-day. It’s real close, real soon. I can say that. So just taking it day-by-day. Working hard to get back out there.”

While some might expect Chargers to sit out James due to their slim playoff chances, the team’s coach Anthony Lynn said that he doesn’t intend to sit impactful players if they are cleared to play.

“If we got healthy players as good as DJ, if he can play, he’s gonna play,” – said Lynn on Tuesday. “We’re not tanking, guys. We’re 4-7. Last time I checked we have five games left.”

LA Chargers took Derwin James with 17th overall pick in 2018 and he was immediately inserted into the team’s starting lineup. James ended up having a spectacular rookie season in which he recorded 105 tackles, 13 passes defended, 3.5 sacks, and three interceptions. This brought him a Pro Bowl appearance and First-Team All-Pro selection.

Ben loves sports so much but prefers watching other people do it. He prefers not to share what teams he's supporting but he is willing to admit that Lebron James is, in fact, the king.
