Manchester United scored two goals in the final five minutes on Wednesday night to beat Juventus 2-1 and stand a great chance to qualify the Champions League round of 16.

Real Madrid run riot on Plzen, scoring 5-0 while Manchester City showed their dominance against Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 at Etihad. Elsewhere, Bayern Munich scored twice to inch closer to the round of 16 while Lyon drew 10-man Hoffenheim 2-2 at home.

United’ match against Juventus was the highlight on Wednesday as Cristiano scored and celebrated openly against his former club. Juan Mata curled a beautiful free-kick in the 86th minute to equal Ronaldo’s 65th-minute goal. Ashley Young hit a set-piece in the 89th minute but the ball hit Alex Sandro to deflect in Juventus’ net.

Although Manchester won, Juventus had several chances to score when the ball hit the woodwork on two occasions.

Elsewhere, Manchester City had a fantastic night at Etihad as they put six goals past Shakhtar Donetsk. A Gabriel Jesus hat-trick, goals from Mahrez, David Silva and Raheem Sterling gave City their biggest Champions League win since their 5-0 away win to Steaua Bucharest.

Karim Benzema scored a brace to spearhead Real Madrid to a 5-0 away win in Plzen. Robert Lewandoski scored both of Bayern’s goals while Benfica shared a point with Ajax in a 1-1 draw.
